saimonix Beautifully relaxing and immersive album - the story really takes shape before your eyes when you read it before listening and while doing it, if you give yourself a chance to sit back and let your imagination work. The style fits into many labels at once, and what's best is that you don't have to apply any - it is what it is, just great music for it's own. Also shout out to Nicol, the cover is beautiful. One of my favourite releases of the year. Favorite track: Night Drive Ecstasy.

about

You disengage your connection to Celestial Navigator, you always amuse yourself by trying to jack out from the system as close to your max allocated hours as possible, not a second more or less. Working smart not hard. "Ding-ding-ding! You have successfully fulfilled your allocated labour hours." The computerised voice coos over your neural-link. A good result, at least it was over rather than under, five seconds past your finish time, the margin is getting slimmer. "Your options have been updated." The voice twitters on "You are now free to collect your 3D Printed Steak." As fine as that 3D printed steak will be, you push it to the back of your mind, you have other plans for tonight, a far more exciting lead awaits you in the Residential Block.

"The Neon Labyrinth" it is called, it's dingy neon lit corridors sprawling below the ground level Cloud City, harbouring the tiny living quarters of the people in their thousands carrying the last hopes of humanity on their shoulders. No reward for such pioneers ultimately, maybe history will treat them with the respect they deserve? You hear voices chatting in Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi, as you clunk through the endless prefabricated steel tunnels. You must be passing one of those LED screens beaming AI generated videos of Tokyo, Mumbai, Hong Kong and the likes. Thousands of mathematically formulated people passing. You find yourself often entranced by them, watching them unconsciously live their fictional lives and come up with stories for them. The developer thought it would be a great way to stop the populace getting home sick, it might or might not have achieved that, however, what has definitely been proven is the entertainment quality, rumours sprouting all the time of the strangest things being spontaneously generated by the responsible AI. A violent assault has surfaced through the grapevine, a floating head, a pair of identical twins, it is probably one of the few exciting things going for the Venusian populace. It instantly elevates you to the public consciousness to be subject to one of these obscure events.

So you pick your spot on a bench directly in front of one of these screens. Tonight, it is going to happen to you, you will happily lose yourself and your life to the wonder of the Neon Labyrinth than leave tonight not knowing the treasures held within its depths… you taper off your thoughts as a woman in a white summer dress and a soft hat appears on screen from the right side smiling radiantly out towards you from an evening Harajuku Cityscape. Her long blonde hair rippling in the fresh breeze, stark against the sea of black haired bobbing heads weaving around her. She raises a hand, still beaming and waves quite cooly out into the ether. A familiar warmth appears in your chest and you try to suppress it but her smile draws you in...
